YAWNING MAN (USA) Return to Australia in August 2023

Desert Rock pioneers YAWNING MAN will make their way back to Australia in August 2023 to showcase their latest album “Long Walk of the Navajo”!

The trio will bring their timeless melodies and blissful vibrations to the towns of Sydney, Brisbane, Katoomba, Wollongong, Canberra, Geelong and Melbourne.

Forming in 1986, Yawning Man have released 8 studio albums and 5 split LPs/EPs.
The latest releases, “Long walk of the Navajo”, “The Revolt Against Tired Noises” & “Macedonian Lines”, won over critics from the desert plains to across the oceans.
This is not just due to the fact that Brant Bjork once said that “Yawning Man is the sickest band of all time”, or “They’re the greatest band I’ve ever seen”. Without the band and their commitment to the initiation of the first ever Generator Parties back in the 80s and 90s, Kyuss, QOTSA, Somali Yacht Club and Garcia’s many projects (including Sloburn and Unida) would not exist without this revolutionary band.

The trio, featuring Gary Arce on Guitar and now Greg Saenz (The Dwarves,John Garcia) and Billy Cordell (Brant Bjork, Kyuss Lives) have crafted one of the most unique blends of Psychedelic, Post and Desert Rock, which can only be described in human language as YAWNING MAN.

The new album “Long walk of the Navajo” heads into a more dark and sometimes heavy direction that has each song telling its own story with a haunting and heavy sound that settles into its own space of beauty.

The sound of Yawning Man stems from the Earth’s soul. While Gaia sends out signals to our spiritual ancestors and elders, the sound of the instruments gradually gather all of us in the moment, and the hypnotic mantras naturally enable the spread of love with the instruments of life we have.

Catch the trio in these cities on the dates below:

FRI 18/8 The Lady Hampshire, Sydney
SAT 19/8 King Lears Throne, Brisbane
SUN 20/8 Bootlegger Bar, Katoomba
WED 23/8 La La Las, Wollongong
THURS 24/8 Pot Belly, Canberra
FRI 25/8 Medusa Bar, Geelong
SAT 26/8 The Evelyn, Melbourne

Noise Rock Pioneers UNSANE make their way under in September 2023!

NY based pioneers of American Noise Rock “UNSANE” will make their way down under to Australia in September 2023.

Forming in 1988, the trio created a relentless brand of Rock with their well versed influences of the Hardcore, Punk and Metal genres.

Unsane quickly became a mainstay in New York noise & heavy music scenes. Originating from New York scumrock scene, while still pushing their unique “extreme” sound, Unsane’s relentless, non-stop touring established them as an important part of the Lower East side New York City music scene of the late 80s and still to this present day.

As a power trio, UNSANE relied upon a hammering, power-press rhythm section, a searing Telecaster howl, and distorted vocals that resembled a chainsaw cutting a steel beam.
The early days of UNSANE began in the late ’80s under the original incarnation of the band — Chris Spencer, Pete Shore (bass), and Charles Ondras (drums) — crawled larvally out of the practice space in 1989 and began playing New York’s seediest haunts. It was these graveyard slots at clubs like CBGB’s where the band developed and honed their trademark sound and delivered the goods with due intensity and volume.

Present line up; Chris Spencer (vocals, guitar), Dave Curran (bass, vocals) and Vincent Signorelli (drums) are responsible for well over two decades of aural ruination, with no intention of letting up anytime soon. With reissues of all albums in the bag, the band will be touring the Australia and New Zealand in Spring 2023.

In collaboration with Australia’s own Disdain Records (https://www.disdain-records.com), an extremely limited edition special colour vinyl version for each will be manufactured for Australia only and made available exclusively at these shows and via Disdain mail-order outlets only.
